Multiglot 13 brings sound, noun gender, and singular vs plural

21. Leden 2025

What’s that sound? It’s Multiglot 13! At long last, you can learn your languages with splendiferous audio! All five languages are supported: British English, European Spanish, French, German, and Czech. Most languages have more than one voice, meaning you can get a feel for differences between male and female speakers, or small regional differences. There are currently over 59000 sounds, with more being added daily! But that’s not all: all courses have been expanded massively, and there are now over 39000 things Multiglot can teach you! That’s 3x more than the previous release!

We’re also happy to introduce two new types of activity:

  • Words Gender: Grammatical gender is important in many languages. Although English doesn’t have it (well, mostly…), Spanish and French have masculine and feminine gender, and German and Czech have not only these but also neuter gender. For many professions, these are as you might expect. But all nouns have gender, not just ones referring to people, so it’s useful to learn how other words are categorised, too: e.g. cat is masculine in Spanish (gato), but feminine in Czech (kočka)! Without knowing this, it’s not possible to be accurate when making adjectives agree with nouns.

  • Words Number: Grammatical number is also of great importance: it’s the difference between singular and plural. English, Spanish, French, German, and Czech all have singular and plural—but they don’t always agree about which is which: e.g. dress is singular in English, but plural in Czech (šaty)—even when referring to just one item of clothing! (*) Knowing this is very important when choosing the right form of a verb in a sentence (like the difference between saying there is a dog ✔️ and there are a dog ❌).

Multiglot now has lots of new quiz questions, able to teach you grammatical gender and number for nouns. Not only that, but it’s possible to use the Elements page to take an intensive quiz: this lets you practise just genders or just nouns for 5 minutes, giving you a great introduction or an opportunity to correct your frequent mistakes. You can also use other targeted quizzes to practise Image Recognition, Images Captioning, Image Spelling, Nouns, Verbs, or Adjectives.

You can sign up with just an email address and finish your first quiz within minutes—all for free!

Good luck! 🇬🇧 🇪🇸 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 🇨🇿 🐠

(*) Actually, the plural is even harder in Czech—but we will get to this in a future release!
